I also think if we made the city folk hang at the ball park for a few day before they

were allowed to move here, we might keep G-vill small town ish ;)

But the fun spring activities far out weigh the nasty bugs...

Dev just wrapped up his 4th and final season of Cowboy soccer!

It makes me sad to think about not going to anymore games :(

I am going on a major rant!

I have been contemplating this topic for a while now, and have avoided it because it is a little touchy, but after the last few weeks I have decided to go ahead with it. At first I thought I would approach cautiously and avoid naming names. After further consideration I decided what the heck, I can name all the names I want. There is this little piece of paper called the constitution that says I can! So please feel free to agree or disagree or call me names. I can take it!

I have watched a lot of sports over a lot of years. I have watched one of my boys win a state championship and I have watched another play four years on a GHS team and NEVER win a region game.

In January I was at Wasatch High School for Divisional wrestling when I noticed this sign and felt compelled to take a picture.

So yes now I am getting to my point....

I watched Brennon step off a wrestling mat with tears in his eyes. NOT because he had lost but because the other young man was saying vulgar things (while they were wrestling!) and calling him some of the most horrible names I have heard in my 37 years! When Brennon informed this boys coach, he just blew Bren off and hugged his wrestler.

Last week after watching our own GHS Soccer team suffer a hard loss (with a few questionable calls, ok ok they just sucked!) A few of OUR boys refused to shake a particular refs hand.

I wont go into to many details but after some stomping, screaming, and crying. I made it very clear to my family that I will not tolerate this.

There will always be a winner

There will always be a loser

There will ALWAYS be bad calls!

I remember Bear River for turning car lights in our boys eyes during football games, and more recently when they were beating us at soccer with a score of 8-0 they were still cartwheeling and honking after EVERY goal. And never once did they pull out their 11 senior starters.

I remember Ben Lomand for yelling and taunting their own players because they were only beating Grantsville by 4. And parents yelling that they expected the score to be 15-0 by the time it was over. And even after they were up by 9 they were still trying to "take out" our goalie.

I remember Juan Diego for getting up by a few goals and then taking out their starters. I remember them for helping our players up and asking if they were ok! The only other thing they could have done was given one of their boys a Cowboy Jersey and sent him out to help us! ;)

Now I know some of you are saying... sure it's easy to be a good sport when you always win. NOT TRUE they rarely won a wrestling match and still helped boys up and patted backs and encouraged our boys!

I remember Devon telling me after a hard loss to Judge "mom, it's really hard to hate them, even after that big guy layed me out, he helped me up and said "wow that was a great hit dude"

I am all about healthy competition, and winning whenever possible,

but I would like to encourage all my Cowboys.... No matter what team you are on....

When we first started building our house the plan called for a "butler pantry" which consisted of a small hall with a closet in it. MJ decided since we didn't have a butler he probably wouldn't need his own pantry. Sooo MJ being the clever guy he is, closed in and created my extra large walk in pantry.

It turned out to be one of my favorite rooms in the house!

To me a mom of a large family with boys (and friends) with big appetites, and only one income, one of the best feeling is twice a year when I try to stock the pantry.

Knowing that no matter what happens we wont be hungry!

*at least for a few months

my favorite part of my pantry is "the wall" where MJ decided at the first of each year, to chart the boys height.

Is the year when we started, so if you were thinking maybe my pantry was due for a paint job, you are right! But it wont be getting one....... in my lifetime!

Now as I ponder this question I don't really think it is fair!

To watch, to Play, to cheer for?

I did much soul searching and here are my conclusions...

Boating

Yep this is may favorite. Cruising around on the water with the wind in your hair & the sun on your face. Watching the smiles, and listening to the giggles of everyone around you. And waiting your turn to ski, board, or get bucked off "Big Bertha"

Everybody LOVES football.

One thing all of these sports have in common is the dinner. You know what I'm talking about. The dinner my parents always made the night before any race or game. Spaghetti and Meatballs! You needed those carbs to fuel you.
Recently I learned this is not accurate for all sports. When I was preparing this traditional dinner before a big match. Brennon looked at me, a little like I was an alien, and said "I can't eat that! I have to make weight." Great now whats a mom to do? Maybe I can invent a Spaghetti and meatball flavored protein shake? YUM :/

This sport is really fun to watch, when your son is on top!

Not so much when hes not!

Even Dev gave it a try. And admits it is the hardest sport he has ever participated in.

Oh wait I almost forgot this one...

Its not mainstream yet but I think it is catching on.

Why do we love all these sports so much?

January, lets face it is not the greatest month of the twelve. What comes to mind when you hear it?

Well for me it means cold & dreary.

And who thought up the whole,
remind me of everything I'm not doing right resolutions list??

Nothing brightens my day better than laughter!

Anyone who is friends with me on FB knows I LOVE a good laugh, and I love making other people laugh. So to help put a little sunshine in our January I am sharing some things that have made me laugh.

People at the gym...

I know what you are thinking..."that's not nice,

at least they are at the gym! and it is true BUT,

I have a sensitive funny bone and when it gets tickled, well... Exhibit A .....

#4- The gal who comes in with her 54 oz. Pepsi and book and heads straight for the hot tub.

*ok honestly I'm just jealous I didn't think of this!

#3- The gentlemen in Wranglers and cowboy boots doing crunches. WTH?

#2- The Asian lady with all her hair in a ponytail on top of her head sticking up 3 inches, who spreads her newspapers all over the treadmill and then runs 10 miles (at a 7!) while reading them! (I have NO idea how she does it)

#1- The lady in her extremely tight skinny jeans (not a slender girl) shirt tucked in, belt on, corduroy waist length button up jacket, big neck less, full hair and makeup done! her only concession to the fact that she was at a gym was her tennis shoes. REALLY?

So even if your new years resolution was not to get in shape, if you just need a good laugh...Go to the gym!

How can PJ's make you laugh? When you get the invitation to your family Christmas party and it says wear PJ's and Brennon comes out in these....

How do you not laugh?

When teenagers after a long day of working as hard as you can to pin another strong, sweaty boy to a mat on his back. You decide to curl up and play a few video games, in your "footie" PJ's. Again necessary laugh!

Sure we all get those funny texts people send around, right? Well the best one I have ever got was from the husband of one of my best friends (you know who you are) it was clearly intended for her and was sent to me completely on accident. I cannot include the contents of this text as it was intended to be "between husband and wife" but I think this was one of the best laughs of the month! Mostly because this quiet, shy, personal, man had sent this and I KNEW just how mortified he would be! Just picturing him blush makes me laugh all over again!!

My Family

Everyday I am thankful for my wonderful family who make me laugh everyday! I cannot post pictures of all of them but know if I haven't posted your pic, if you are related to me in any way you are responsible for making me laugh!

My Sisters...

When my sisters and I get together watch out! There will be uncontrolled laughter! We are all crazy, and love to have a good time!

There is one person, no matter how good, bad, crazy, embarrassing my story is I can always share it and she will always take my side even when I am wrong! (actually especially when I am wrong) We can turn the worst situations into something to laugh at. Kristen is my, go to girl when I need to escape reality and just laugh.... at myself, at her, at ANY situation.

My mom...(what?)

Yep, my mom for teaching us that you are NEVER to old to do anything that makes you laugh. Leg wrestle, cartwheel, bowl. You may hurt yourself very severely, but your NOT too old :)

So a great big thank you to everyone who has ever made me laugh!

Brennons new endeavor

Devon and I were shopping in Big 5 the other day. When A young man came up to us and started chatting. Devon asked him how his tests went in P.E. "Dude I had the record, 103 push ups in 2 min!" "Then along comes little Kimber.... He did 130!"

Later after much quizzing (Brennon is not one to announce his success.) we found out not only did Bren hold the push up record he also did 90 sit ups in 2 min. and has the fastest mile in the Freshman class at 5:40.

So his decision to wrestle seemed like a good one, and so far it's looking good! He went to the Evanston Invitational Friday & Saturday and walked away with the 5th place medal in his division! (107 kids in his division!)

MJ and I didn't stay for Sat so I don't have a pic of him on the podium :(

Blogging is like scrapbooking, when I start getting behind I feel like I can't catch up so I give up! Well I'm NOT!! I like it too much. So instead of trying to catch up I'm just blogging whatever moves me! And it may be totally random at times so.....

DEAL WITH IT! ;)

Sunday we decided to take the boy's into see the Temple lights. After a yummy Training Table dinner (mmmm cheese fries, with ultimate dipping sauce!) We headed over in a blizzard to see the lights.

Problem #1 It's only 4:30 (it's not dark yet)
Problem #2 it's a major blizzard!

So in the end we walked around for a while and snapped pics, and waited, and waited...... Even after it got dark only a few of the lights came on. (probably because of the wind and heavy snowfall)

As everyone knows I love to take pictures! My kids are pretty good sports about me always sticking a camera in their face. Dev who shares my personality is always game! Brennon on the other had is more like his dad, and informed me when I tried to take a self portrait of he and I that..."I'm not a 13 year old girl!" Does that mean I am?? I did my best as you can see ;)

So I guess we have no choice but to embrace THE KING!

When you see all the cars of your sons friends driving erratically through your neighborhood, and then you call your son's phone at 10:30 on a school night and all you hear is "GET DOWN, GET DOWN!!" and the line goes dead. Should you panic? Should you call the police?

We have all heard of the four seasons. But if you are from Grantsville, or have been here long you surely know of our 5th season.... Yep that would be eggin' season!

I remember 20 years ago thinking how clever our boy's were when they left the eggs out in the sun for days so they would be rotten and stinky! But I think even that was trumped this year by the ingenious idea (Don't worry Linc I won't rat you out!) to paint the eggs black, so you can't see them coming in the dark!

Dev: "Mom I need you to get me some eggs, lots of eggs like 5 doz."

Mom: "Really? Why do you need that many eggs?"

Dev: "Protein mom! Coach says we need LOT'S of protein!

hmmm.... Dev did you know you can't absorb protein through osmosis, when being hit by a egg? Just sayin'..... ;)

Spring break fun 2010

We decided to brave the cold and snow to do a little camping!

(Ashley didn't like the cold)

The boys didn't mind the cold or mud a bit.

*They even found a stuffed rabbit proclaimed it the

Easter bunny and threw it on the fire!

We also headed out west for a few days to look for shed horns

it was a record haul 48 sheds!

Lots of fun was had by all!

Even the parents, who got to relax in the hot tub at the hotel,
and go out in the evenings for dinner without kids! :)

Usually I am one of the mom's at Soelbergs the night before the Valentine party, trying to find a leftover box of Valentines that my kids will like!

NOT this year!

This year I went to Target a whole 2 day's before the party's and pick out Valentines I KNEW my kids would like:)

Sooo here we are the night before the party's....... All of the carefully selected Valentines are lines up on the counter.

YES, I realize today's date is January 7th 2010.

YES, I realize my last post was on Nov. 24th 2009.

So I decided the best course of action was to pretend the month of Dec. never happened :) but then after more thought I knew I couldn't not post the great family pics & great laughs we had at all of the fun parties.

I decided this year to host my 1st annual Bah-humbug party! All who wanted were invited to attend, the only requirements were......

1. Wear sweat pants!

2. Bring your list of 10 things you hate about Christmas.

3. Bring a goodie to share :)

It ended up being soooo much fun! Everyone had their list ready and we all laughed so hard our stomachs hurt! I now know one of the best way's to beat the stress of the holidays is to poke a little fun & laugh at them!!!

This is one tradition I will definitely continue!

So October 30-31 marked the end of a season for the Kimbers.

FOOTBALL SEASON
Devon played his final game against Park City. It was freezing cold! They did not get a victory but played as a team and closed the gap by more than most expected. Devon didn't shed any tears, he just had excitement in his eyes , because next year he will be a SENIOR!

Brennons game was on Halloween day. This game also did not have the outcome we would have wanted, but how can you be disappointed when you get to score the only touchdown for your team in your last little league game EVER! That's right next year Brennon will be a Freshman!

Why haven't I been blogging? I love blogging! Have I been too busy with my family? No, more than usual. Have I run out of things to say? (I know your all laughing now!) No so what is it? I will be honest and place the blame exactly wear it lies........
I have always known Wal-mart was the devil but now I have to add another nemesis to my list. Ok this is the best way I can describe it...... Shopping for instance is always fun but when you shop with a credit card it seems even funner because your not paying for it right then instant gratification! Well that's how Facebook is like blogging only quicker and everybody is right there!

I have confessed my sins and now I will begin the 12 step program to recovery.

So please help me overcome this addiction by giving me affirmation of my awesome blogging!

Homecoming has always been a fun tradition in

Grantsville and this year was no different!

I was going to list each day and all that happened but decided it would be waaaaaay too long. So I'm just going to sum it up.

Brennon & Briggs have been going on adventures since they were old enough to get out of my sight. One of their favorite way's to spend a summer day is up to the "lil res" swimming and sliding down the moss covered culverts. That was the plan Aug. 13th. I took them up and dropped them off with instructions to walk home when they were done. Only an hour later Briggs called and said Brennon had cut his foot and I needed to come get him.
When I got there I could not believe the blood!

When he showed me his foot I could see the bone. We jumped in the car and raced home. I grabbed some dry clothes for him and left Briggs and Megan in charge. About the time I was to the church on Dufree st. I realized I didn't have enough gas to get to Tooele so I turned around and headed to Handy Corner, as I pulled up to the pump I realized I didn't have my planner! (no money) I headed back home. When I pulled up Briggs ran out with my planner and my fab sister said "my car has gas just take it" so off we go again. At this point I can't understand why Brennon is not screaming it HAS to hurt!
When we get to Tooele they took one look and sent us right on our way to Primary Children's.

The Dr.'s could not believe how calm Brennon was, and kept offering pain killers but he insisted he was fine. Until they tried to stitch the ligaments! (they explained that deep tissue "just doesn't numb") After what was many long hours with several specialist (also in this time frame much crying, screaming, sedatives and a mom that passed out.) they sewed the ligaments back together and stitched up Brennon's foot as best they could.

We arrived at PC at 6:00 p.m. and left at 5:00 a.m. the next morning.

Brennon was just a little excited that he got to go to the first day of school on crutches.

*that lasted about 5 min.

It was quite an experience and one neither of us wants to have EVER again!

I have two words for anyone considering culvert sliding....

On July 16th MJ's baby brother (yes Kev I said BABY) Kevin came home from serving in the Lancing Michigan mission. He was dearly missed, and everyone was excited to have him home.

MJ and I have never taken a vacation alone together. Sure we have spent one or two nights in a hotel for our anniversary, but never a real live vacation. Our opportunity came when MJ had to go to MD for some training, the room and rental car was paid for and he received an allowance for food. It was the perfect chance for me to join him.

We have the greatest family in the world!
They all stepped up and divided our kids up and took over.

We went to Inner Harbor on the Chesapeake bay.

Spent a day in Washington DC.

For awhile now Briggs has been checking out the go carts on KSL. So when his birthday rolled around we found one that only needed a little work. After a few hours and a couple lawn mower parts (MJ is sure handy!) he had a running go-cart.

Ray Barrus 5k memorial race

The 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays! It is even more special now that we get to share it with a memorial to my dad! The Ray Barrus 5K memorial run has been a fun tradition for our family. I have participated every year with the exception of two when I was VERY pregnant (Briggs July 14th & Brennon Aug. 20th) and this year thanks to recent surgery and to add insult to injury a broken toe!

I have been very proud to participate. And now my heart is so full of pride for my sons who have chosen to honer their grandpa by participating also.

Briggs never got to meet his "Grandpa Ray" and still follows in his footsteps. He ran the 5K this year in 21min! WOW!! Finishing first of anyone under 16. I cried when I saw him coming toward the finish line way ahead of anyone near his age. Finishing 33 overall out of 350!

Devon a self proclaimed "non runner" finished in 23min. coming in 65th overall.

It is so exciting for me to see a small tradition that started with aprox. 20 runners become a community event. I was so touched to see people who are my friends & acquaintances participating. I know everyone was there for there own reasons but I also want to believe some small part of them was also there for me!

So THANK YOU to everyone who participated, for whatever reason!

I have great memories of doing crazy things as a kid.

Sliding down old wrestling mats in the driveway with dish soap.

(mom was a little ticked when we'd use a bottle a day)

Making obstacle courses in the back yard using anything we could find.

Making huge "forts" with every piece of furniture, blanket & pillow in the house.

Jumping on the tramp in a rainstorm.

So when I saw the fun being had next door...

I just grinned and grabbed my camera!

What are neighborhood kids supposed to do when the drainage ditches fill up with water?

I know!!... grab as much mud as you can and throw it at the girls! :)

A tornado in G-ville?

Well my friends I was told wrong!

I love summer thunder storms, but was not expecting the tornado that came through Tuesday evening. I don't know if it was an F-4 or F-5 but I know it was F-ing (lol) big enough to pick up my swing lift it 10 feet in the air and trow it into my kitchen window!

I couldn't believe how fast my patio was torn apart! And it was just a small one. I can't even imagine what it would be like to live in am area where this is part of life and a very real danger! One more reason to love our mountains!

Yep that's me!

I have been rethinking this whole... put me to sleep, cut me open, peel internal organs from other internal organs, remove said organ. The pain is not THAT bad I mean not quite as bad a childbirth!? Maybe I could just not eat and take pain killers for the rest of my life? Why not?

Ok... I know, it has to be done. But honestly I don't want to! (picture me stomping & screaming)

At least I could be getting a flat tummy out of the deal. Now that would be the surgery for me :

Everyone says.... "It's not that big a deal, You'l feel so much better it will be worth it." but I am still scared not a big fan of pain, and really not a big fan of not waking up!

Alight I have whined long enough, please be thinking of and praying for me.

On the morning of the" Big Day" Colby jumped out of bed (unusual for Colby, he takes a while to wake up!) And said "what time is it? because if its 8:45 I'm late!"

I have aways loved taking pictures. I know, I know, me and everyone else. What makes me special?

NOTHING!

But I'm going to give it a shot anyway! For years friends and family have been asking me to take pictures for them. I love doing it. It is so exciting when you capture that perfect shot! A facial expression, a small moment in time that you can never get back, held forever in a picture.

So wish me luck.

I was spraying off the patio the other day getting all the winter leaves and junk off. When a piece of plastic came out from under the steps the conversation went like this....

MOM: "Colby will you grab that and throw it in the garbage?"

Colby: "Mom, can't I have a break?

I just did some work the day before yesterday!"

Last night while he was reading, (he is easily distracted) he asked...

Colby: "When you wish on a star does it really come true?"

Mom: "Sometimes, but not always."

Colby: "Well next time I wish on a star, I'm going to wish for super powers!"

Mom: "Really?"

Colby: " Do you want to know what superpower I'm going to wish for?"

Mom:" What I want is for you to read!"

Colby: "I know just let me finish."

Mom: "OK what superpower will you wish for?"

Colby: "Telekinesis!"

MJ came home the other night and announced.. "I got Dev a car!" (because of the twinkle in his eye, I will admit I was a little suspicious.) I said "oh yea what is it?" to which he replied "ahh 1984 Mercury something, Dev wont drive it!" But it was free! (At this point I was liking the car more and more.)

So when I picked Dev up from the school after his game I told him his dad had scored him a sweet ride! (and because of the twinkle in my eye, Dev was extremely suspicious.)

Devs friend Lincoln decided he couldn't miss this and came home with us to see..

First reaction..... Does it even run?

Second.......... It's almost old enough to be cool again!

Third....... Can we take it for a ride?

Why not?

(um... no license, not registered, no insurance, needs tires.)

Oh well go for it!

They had a great time circling the neighborhood in the newly pronounced Butterfly!

(turns out it's a Mercury Monarch, yep that's why it's the butterfly)

I'm pretty sure it's not the car any teenager would choose, but I was pretty dang proud of Devon for appreciating what his dad had done for him. And being willing to make the best of it!

(he mentioned painting the hood ornament neon pink.)

So what better to do over spring break than a visit to the Dentist? I decided to take everyone at once, I knew it would be a long afternoon but thought it better than 2 or 3 trips. So we loaded up and off we went with the promise of ice cream for anyone that walked out with no cavities. (knowing we had missed our last 6 month checkup I assumed that wouldn't happen!)

Colby was first and after a few tears, and threats and promises he got his teeth checked and....

NO CAVITIES!

Next Tucker climbed right up and cooperated completely.......

NO CAVITIES!

*The tech even gave him 2 tokens because "he was the best 4 year old I've ever done"

So far so good.......

Devon and Brennon go next and low and behold.......

NO CAVITIES!

That just leaves Briggs..... Yeah right? you didn't really think we wouldn't have any did you?

Briggs had 3! well that's not so bad right?

could have been worse right?

*That's when the dentist said Mrs. Kimber could I speak to you a moment?

Lets start with Devon, his wisdom teeth are coming in and will need to be taken out this summer so I am going to set up his appt. with the oral surgeon.

Brennon has a permanent eye tooth that is fully formed but has not dropped down he need to see and orthodontist A.S.A.P he will HAVE to get braces. This is very critical he needs to get in right away!

And let's not forget Briggs, his entire jaw is out of alignment, he too will need to see an orthodontist soon while he is still young and can regrow bone (as they will probably need to break his jaw to fix it!)

Why oh why couldn't they just have had a bunch of cavities?

Spring break fun....

We jumped right in to spring break with both feet! We decided to go ahead a get started Sunday afternoon.... As we were packing up Tucker came to me and said " I'm sooo excited, I've never been hoteling!" We sure got a laugh out of that one!

We loaded up the bikes and headed west.......

First stop Salt Flats......

Then some swimming in the hotel (I think this was their favorite part)...

Now let's ride and look for sheds..... (horns that have fallen off deer and elk)

A little hiking & climbing....A little more swimming....

What a fun couple of days!

*I would like to note Devon did not join us on this trip, he had Soccer practice and refused to miss. (we admire his dedication) We were home Tuesday in time for his game.

Meet Sally....

The newest member of our family came to us through Brennon (surprise) and his love of animals, more specifically farm animals.

His good friend Ty Tittmus offered to give him one of their bummer goats. After much begging and, many promises about who would take care of this goat MJ and I agreed.

Brennon decided to name his goat Thomas until we discovered "he" was a "she" (this happens to us ALOT!) So then the name of Sally was chosen.

Brennon had to go out three times a day and bottle feed her. The worst part for Bren was mixing up the formula, he would gag and heave if he smelled it. (lol) He soon learned how to avoid this problem..... He would bribe his brothers to mix it up for him!

I never knew a goat could have so much personality! I thought it would be like a lamb or pig, something that just sat in it's pen and ate. Boy was I wrong! Sally will follow Bren or Ashley (our darling beagle) all over the yard. It didn't take her long to figure out that the people were in the house, and that's where she wanted to be! So she would come up to the back door and butt it with her head! So MJ said "open the door see what she does" well she came right on in! She came over to the coach to nudge your hand so you would pet her! And now she tries to come in every chance she gets. If we wont open the back door she will lay down right outside of it, or go to the front door! (she has now learned from Ashley to scratch the door with her hoof) I'm not sure if all goats are like this or if ours is just confused and thinks she is a dog? But it has been fun getting to know her!

The Cowboys played the Bear River Bears yesterday. It was fun to be out watching even though it was sooooo cold. The game did not go in our favor, but we fought a good fight! Devon played a great game.

Hammer Time....

When Devon was in kindergarten we decided to throw together a little talent and try out for the children's sociable program. They made it, and it has become a tradition that we do every year. Devon outgrew it a few years ago, but Brennon, Briggs & Colby have taken over and look forward to it every year. Asking as soon as it is over "what are we going to do next year?" This year we decided to go retro and do our version of MC Hammers U can't touch this.

When we choose this plan we had no idea what a challenge it would be to find "hammer pants" We tried to find a pattern to sew them, but they are considered "vintage" and a pattern cost $50! So I revamped an old clown costume pattern and.... voila Hammer pants!

We have had allot of fun with this. If you would like to come see they will be performing on Thursday March 26th at the GHS auditorium at 7:00 p.m.

Tuc started running a fever Monday after noon, of coarse by #5 you just give them Motrin and say "tis the season! " Well last night about 9:00 he said "mom, why does my leg have bumps? That's when we notices a small patch of hives. I gave him Benadryl and we watched and waited by 9:30 it had doubled in size it was swollen and hot to touch. That's when we decided it might be serious and headed to the E.R. After several hours they still didn't know what it was but sent us home and said to go to our pediatrician this morning. (glad I paid them my $75, thanx for your help) by 2:00 a.m. this is what he looked like......

I gave him more benadryl and covered him in Calamine. He is still asleep I'll let you know what I find out!

Another of my old friends has passed on!

Is it normal to have an emotional attachment to inanimate objects? Well I often do! I have had this stove for 13 years I picked it out when we built our first house. Last week as I walked past it (really all I did was walk past) the door FELL open and refused to close (I even tried standing there and holding it for a minute to see if it would stay, it wouldn't). A friend suggested tying it closed, that didn't work either. So with much sadness, not only because my friend would never burn choco chip cookies for me again (to her defense she always tried to warn me with her timer, but she couldn't take them out herself!) And also sadness because if I am going to spend our hard earned $$$ I don't want it to be on appliances! I have purchased a new (used) stove. So say hello to my new friend (I have owned her for 2 days and haven't used her) So today we are going on our maiden voyage what should I cook??? I guess I should start with the old standby choco chop cookies, you can't go wrong there! Wish us luck with our new relationship!!

Devon was very nervous to be picked up on his first date, especially because he didn't know if it would be her dad picking him up! (it was her mom) He was ready by 6:00 to be picked up at 6:30, by 7:00 he was starting to think he had been stood up! I assured him girls were always late! It was worth the wait she looked beautiful! She had brought him a boutonniere

(opps was it my job to get a corsage?)

After 10 min of watching them struggle to pin it on, I tried to help, after another 10 min her mom tried to help, soon after it was decided to just put the boutonniere in his pocket!

They looked so cute together and they had a great time!

YES I understand Devon will turn 16 on February 9, 2009 at 11:04 p.m.

Yes I know that when you turn 16 you are allowed to go on dates!

What I didn't know was that Thursday evening one of the cutest little (yes little) girls I have ever seen was going to show up at my door (a full 4 days before his birthday!) and ask to decorate his bedroom with balloons and a poster to ask him to the girls choice dance!

Whats a mom to do???

*I'm not that old I still remember decorating MJ's room (it was for homecoming).

I did what any good mom would do and took her down and even helped carry the balloons!

(and of course immediately started thinking of ways to answer!)

And don't worry I followed him down with the camera

Now the real reason I am writing this....

Of all the jobs in the world who would want to do this?

On the day I took this pic it was aprox. 25 degrees! I only got out of the warm car long enough to snap a few pics. MJ was there for 11 hrs.

A few weeks before Christmas Tucker told me he wanted a

"Baby alive"

having seen all the toy commercials I was well aware of this doll.

well one day I took Tuc to SLC with me Christmas shopping when we were in TJ Maxx he came running over to me and said "mom quick come here I need to show you something." So I followed him to the next aisle where a young mom was pushing a fairly new baby in a stroller..... "See mom that's the kind of baby I want!" "But Tucker, that is a real baby!" I exclaimed. Tucker loved the tiny baby and asked Jacqlyn if we could keep him, when Jaq explained that she wanted to take him home with her Tucker started to cry.

WOW I don't even know where to start.....

My laptop was declared dead on December 10th at 3:43 p.m. Services were held, and many tears were shed!

What could I do two weeks before Christmas? No way could I afford a new one!

(Until you have been without you cannot comprehend the pain!)

Fast forward to Christmas morning.......

When the love of my life surprised me with not only a brand new computer but also a digital camera of a caliber I wouldn't have dreamed of owning! It was wonderful, I felt like one of the kids! (and I think a couple of them were jealous!)

I have a lot of work ahead of me, trying to salvage some of the thousands of pics on my old hard drive, and mp3s, etc. Not to mention learning how to use my amazing camera. I am going to enjoy every minute! I'm sure this is not the last you have heard of this, keep your eyes open ...

I will be posting pics very soon and very often!

Okay anyone who knows me knows I'm a little prone to exaggeration! But this is serious!! My best friend in the whole world died last week. Yes you guessed it. ......

MY COMPUTER!

I know, I know, a little perspective here. It's just that we start to take for granted how easy some things have become. If I wanted to know what time the Gateway closed I could know in 5 min. If I wanted to know exactly how much money was in my checking account I knew immediately. kids grades no problem, the square root of pie.... you name it. So if you have been wondering why I haven't been posting (and I hope you have!) it's because a nasty, mean, virus has claimed my computer. Computek is trying to resurrect it as we speak. In the mean time this post is courtesy of MJ's old faith full T-rex computer. Slower than cold tar!!

So I will not be posting too frequently until I get my friend back, please pray for her, and me!

I'm just not ready for the lights and music and blow up teddy bears on peoples lawns, I get an ulcer just thinking about it! Christmas is supposed to be such a joy full time of year and yet I mostly feel stressed! Yes Me! Mrs. doesn't worry about anything, but for some reason Christmas stresses me out! Sooo much pressure.....

I lost a baby that would be 5 years old this November,

I lost my mom December 29th 2005,

I know this has added to my feelings, did I forget to mention the cold? (not a big fan!)

2. Sitting by the fire.

3. Christmas music (AFTER NOV. 28TH)

4. warm cuddly socks.

From August to October the Kimber household kind of revolves around football season.

I love every minut of it!!

I know I would be involved in anything they choose to do but I have to admit I love football.

Well this season has come to an end with some wins and some losses but with lots of lessons learned. Brennons team had their annual banquet and Brennon received the award for.....

I am what you would call a history buff I love all things past. I don't care if it is American history or ancient history I am fascinated by it all. And now I am part of something that will be talked about and written about for the rest of time!

When I first saw Barack Obama on Opera a few years ago I was impressed! He was very down to earth and likable. I loved the way he interacted with his wife, you could tell her opinion was important to him (I don't think you can fake that). He was humble and charismatic. I will admit I did not vote for him. I worry what will happen in our country if liberal views take over our government! But I Am open minded and maybe this is what our country needs to inspire us to be patriotic and have hope & faith in our country and government. So our new president has my full support (until he screws up!) j.k. Good luck Barack and God Bless the USA!

I also need to say I was soooo impress by how gracious John McCain was in his speech. Talk about a man who truly loves his country and sacrificed as much as anyone can for it. Well fought McCain, good luck wherever you choose to go now! Thank you

Not a little sniffle or scratchy throat. I mean head pounding,

can't breath, can't swallow, whole body hurts sick !

I can't be sick, I have to help with Colbys 1st grade class party. ugh

Halloween rules!

1. When it appears that you have killed the monster, never check to see if it's really dead.

Every day on the TV we are seeing such scary things about the economy. Stock market crashing, mortgage foreclosures, job layoffs, grocery prices have gone up 30%, not to mention gas prices. I have been worrying allot about what could happen in our country.

To drive this point home my grandmother called the other day and as always asked how we are doing, I assured her we were good, but she kept pressing. After a minute she finally said what she really meant, "I mean financially how are you?, Have you lost allot in the stock market?" I paused for a minute and almost started laughing! I replied " we have five kids and one income, we didn't exactly have allot to lose!"

I have always been a glass half full kinda girl so I guess I found the silver lining in this situation! I just hope nobody steals my mattress! LOL

Dr. Seuss is one of my favorite people to quote, but my sister Shannon comes in a close second (polo bear lol) followed by movies, Dumb & Dumber is a huge one with the extended Kimber family. But today I was thinking of Disney movies and some of the great things the characters say, I could think of so many! But I chose one that I quote allot!

I have always been a believer that we all choose our paths in life. Some things do "happen" to us, but we all choose what we do with these situations. We cannot blame others for where we are in our lives because our choices got us there! With that said.....

MJ I am so proud of you for the choices you have made

and continue to make, to have the

life you choose. I love you with all my heart!

We tell our children to Choose The Right, and sometimes it is as easy as that! Other times there is not a clear choice of right and wrong. More like left or right, they will both get you to the end destination just with a different view and different experiences on the way!

My hope is that we can all make choices that bring smiles to our faces and, bliss to our souls!

Kids I have learned go through different phases of weirdness.

some I find irritating ( having to do everything themselves.)

While some I find endearing!

Well lately Tucker, despite the cute "school clothes"I bought

(he's not in school yet)

he has decided he can only wear pocket shirts.

Why you ask... because he has" allot of stuff!"

Definition of "stuff" to a three year old.... TREASURES!

It's not the same treasures every day, it varies but I have just picked

an average day to share with you.

1. Empty eyeshadow container = Laptop

2. pedometer (broken) = Watch

3. Several hair elastics = Wrist communicator

4. Film canister = $$$ holder

5. Battery = to charge stuff

6. Random black thing = ???

It is a little frustrating having to take his "stuff" everywhere.

But it is so cute I can't be bugged.

I don't think I always stopped to enjoy these

moments with my other kids,

but knowing Tucker is my last I'm enjoying everything! (well almost!)

Now I just need some HELP..... I can't find any new T-shirts with pockets. The three we have are getting old fast, so if you have any ideas I'd love to hear them!

My Dad....

Days seem to fly by, but every year on this day my DAD is in my thoughts all day. He passed away 14 years ago today, far too soon. I know our Heavenly Father has a plan.... with that said sometimes, I feel like I got gypped! He was taken far too soon, my kids never even knew him.

I didn't know the man in this picture, I didn't know the All American distance runner, I didn't know the man who won the first Deseret News Marathon. People have asked what it was like to see my dad run those races. I don't know, I was too young. I just remember a man who loved to run and to be active in any way. He encouraged us all to run. Dad really believed running could fix anything, if we had allot on our mind he would say "go for a run" when I would get car sick on long rides dad would stop, and have me get out and "run a while" then he would pick me up about a mile down the road. I will admit I didn't always want to (kinda like piano lessons) but I now have a love of running. It really does clear your head! If you don't believe me just give it a try, it can be very addictive.

Random stuff I loved about my DAD...

1. He wanted everyone to be doing something productive at all times. ( ok I didn't always love this!)

2. He took circus peanuts on any and all road trips. (I don't even like them, but they remind me of my dad)

3.He had a deep faith in the gospel.

4. He felt strongly about keeping your body healthy with good food and exercise.

5.He loved to spend time rigging up stuff for us kids to play on. Big hot pink swing sets with trapeze, bungi cord swings, wrestling mats with dish soap. etc.. (I know your laughing right now!)

6. He made awesome divinity.

I still use the scriptures with his name on them that he gave me just before he passed away, they are very old so when someone references a scripture with page numbers mine never match up but I don't care I feel like my dad is with me when I read them.

It's almost here... My favorite holiday. Halloween! Every year I have to force my self to wait for the 1st of October to get my Halloween stuff out. But nobody said I had to wait to decorate my blog! I just love all the Halloween spooky, and one night a year you can be anything you want. Hmm what should I be this year?

Love/Hate Relationship...

We have all heard the term Love/Hate relationship? I think I finally understand... What could you want to do, need to do, love to do, but at the same time dread doing, put off doing and hate doing?... Yep EXERCISE!!
Now I'm not talking about going for a walk with your ipod,(or a friend) or a bike ride with your kids. (that's just fun). I mean the kind with weights, and squats, and push ups and sweat running down your... well everything! I know I need to take care of myself, especially if I want to keep eating Cold Stone. (and I do) Soooo I guess I will keep squatting and lifting and sweating. I know if those folks on biggest loser can do it, surely I can to. (at least a few days a week).
So I will get up off my backside now and get moving!!!
