Brennons new endeavor

Devon and I were shopping in Big 5 the other day. When A young man came up to us and started chatting. Devon asked him how his tests went in P.E. "Dude I had the record, 103 push ups in 2 min!" "Then along comes little Kimber.... He did 130!"
Later after much quizzing (Brennon is not one to announce his success.) we found out not only did Bren hold the push up record he also did 90 sit ups in 2 min. and has the fastest mile in the Freshman class at 5:40.

So his decision to wrestle seemed like a good one, and so far it's looking good! He went to the Evanston Invitational Friday & Saturday and walked away with the 5th place medal in his division! (107 kids in his division!)

MJ and I didn't stay for Sat so I don't have a pic of him on the podium :(

This is the video of Brennons first ever wrestling match.

Cowboy Football 2010

Football this year was bittersweet. One Senior Cowboy and one Freshman just getting started at GHS. So many emotions! Games won :) Games lost :(

Memories forever in our hearts!

Brennons touchdown!

Blogging is like scrapbooking, when I start getting behind I feel like I can't catch up so I give up! Well I'm NOT!! I like it too much. So instead of trying to catch up I'm just blogging whatever moves me! And it may be totally random at times so.....
DEAL WITH IT! ;)

Sunday we decided to take the boy's into see the Temple lights. After a yummy Training Table dinner (mmmm cheese fries, with ultimate dipping sauce!) We headed over in a blizzard to see the lights.
Problem #1 It's only 4:30 (it's not dark yet)
Problem #2 it's a major blizzard!
So in the end we walked around for a while and snapped pics, and waited, and waited...... Even after it got dark only a few of the lights came on. (probably because of the wind and heavy snowfall)
As everyone knows I love to take pictures! My kids are pretty good sports about me always sticking a camera in their face. Dev who shares my personality is always game! Brennon on the other had is more like his dad, and informed me when I tried to take a self portrait of he and I that..."I'm not a 13 year old girl!" Does that mean I am?? I did my best as you can see ;)

The old avalanche trick... works every time!

It was an awesome day, in a life full of chaos!

is a little game of where's Waldo at the end. ;)

Yellow Card: a serious caution!
Two yellows in one game and the player is shown a Red card and, ejected from the game.

A Red Card: a serious offense!

A red without the yellows means a violent or intentional foul. You are ejected, your team has to play a man down, and your banned from the next game.

Why do you ask are you getting a lesson in soccer rules?

I just wanted to introduce you to someone,

This my friends is.......

The King!

The King of the Card!

Now I know what you are thinking..."is this something to be proud of?"
I guess that is something each person who watches & understands soccer will have to decide for himself. What I can tell you is all the coaches who have coached Devon have told him to play just how he is! Play hard or go home!
Most recently when I felt it necessary to apologize to the coach he looked right at me and said... "He's fine, I like Devons style"
So I guess we have no choice but to embrace THE KING!
*Dev has only received one RED card that I know of, and we have established that bad language doesn't help win games!

What season is this?

When you see all the cars of your sons friends driving erratically through your neighborhood, and then you call your son's phone at 10:30 on a school night and all you hear is "GET DOWN, GET DOWN!!" and the line goes dead. Should you panic? Should you call the police?
We have all heard of the four seasons. But if you are from Grantsville, or have been here long you surely know of our 5th season.... Yep that would be eggin' season!
I remember 20 years ago thinking how clever our boy's were when they left the eggs out in the sun for days so they would be rotten and stinky! But I think even that was trumped this year by the ingenious idea (Don't worry Linc I won't rat you out!) to paint the eggs black, so you can't see them coming in the dark!

Dev: "Mom I need you to get me some eggs, lots of eggs like 5 doz."
Mom: "Really? Why do you need that many eggs?"
Dev: "Protein mom! Coach says we need LOT'S of protein!

hmmm.... Dev did you know you can't absorb protein through osmosis, when being hit by a egg? Just sayin'..... ;)

Spring break fun 2010

We decided to brave the cold and snow to do a little camping!
(Ashley didn't like the cold)
The boys didn't mind the cold or mud a bit.
*They even found a stuffed rabbit proclaimed it the
Easter bunny and threw it on the fire!
We also headed out west for a few days to look for shed horns
it was a record haul 48 sheds!

Lots of fun was had by all!

Even the parents, who got to relax in the hot tub at the hotel,
and go out in the evenings for dinner without kids! :)

Are you sure?

I can't believe it!
Can this really be the same boy?

It sounds so cliche but, they really do grow up so quickly!

I had to wipe away a tear & choke back a sob as Dev began his 2010 soccer season. It still hard to comprehend that, the great big #22 is my little guy.

Go Cowboys!

Insight +Mom = Momsight

Momsight: An instance of apprehending the true nature of a thing,
through intuitive understanding.

After 17 years of being a "boy mom" I think I FINALLY understand.
*(I'm sure my sons will disagree)

1. Boy's like to get dirty!

2. Boy's like to go fast. (get muddy)

3. Boy's like to touch slimy things. (get germy)

4. Boy's like to fix things. (get greasy)

5. Boy's like to run into each other. (get sweaty & stinky)

6. Boy's like to eat. (get their face messy)

7. Boy's like to go barefoot. (have dirty feet, & wounded too)

8. Boy's like to laugh. (make someone else get messy)

9. Boy's like to hunt things. (sleep, eat & shoot at things in the dirt)

Boy's are filthy!

& I wouldn't trade them for anything!

Where's the rest?

Usually I am one of the mom's at Soelbergs the night before the Valentine party, trying to find a leftover box of Valentines that my kids will like!

NOT this year!

This year I went to Target a whole 2 day's before the party's and pick out Valentines I KNEW my kids would like:)

Sooo here we are the night before the party's....... All of the carefully selected Valentines are lines up on the counter.
NBA Cards with tattoos for Briggs!

Laffy Taffy joke cards for Colby!
Toy Story cards with suckers for Tucker!

As I finish up homework and start packing up the backpacks and getting the Valentines all ready to be delivered.
I notice something ODD??

Why does Tucker only have 2 suckers sitting here?
Brennon, Briggs, do you know where Tucks suckers are?

Colby: "I know mom Brennon & Briggs ate them!"

All of them?
Brennon: "I only had 2!"

Mom: (in a VERY loud, angry voice)
"There were 30 suckers! You guy's ate 28 suckers! In the last 1/2 hr?
This year I will be one of those mom's at Soelbergs the night before the Valentine party's trying to find some suckers for Tuckers Valentines!
*next year I will also be at Soelbergs the night before, because I don't see any point in doing it twice!

SOMEDAY.....

SOMEDAY, We will go on a cruise.
SOMEDAY, we will build a sport court outback.
SOMEDAY, I will scrapbook ALL my photos.

SOMEDAY:Adv; Things we will do when..........

The kids are older.
We have more money.
We have more time.
For a long time at the very top of my list was...

Someday,
we will get a KING size bed!
Well....
SOMETIMES
We need to remember to
appreciate and enjoy what we have now!

*On a recent getaway.
Heather: "Honey the room I booked didn't have the usual
queen beds it had one KING size bed" :)
MJ: "That will be nice" :)

All night long I would wake up periodically and wonder
why MJ wasn't in bed with me? Then I would realize
HE WAS! He was just clear across on the other side of
the KING size bed.

*next morning
Heather: "How did you sleep?"
MJ: "Ok, I just kept waking up wondering why you were so far away."

So Maybe SOMEDAY,
we will just get a new QUEEN size bed ;)
