It's almost here....
It's almost here... My favorite holiday. Halloween! Every year I have to force my self to wait for the 1st of October to get my Halloween stuff out. But nobody said I had to wait to decorate my blog! I just love all the Halloween spooky, and one night a year you can be anything you want. Hmm what should I be this year?
Facts about Halloween....
The Gaels believed that on Oct. 31 the boundary between the alive and the deceased dissolved, and the dead became dangerous for the living causing problems like, sickness & damaged crops. Costumes and masks were worn in an attempt to mimic evil spirits or placate them.
What do you call someone who puts poison in your lucky charms?
A Cereal Killer!

Can we move to Neverland?
This morning when I got Colby's cereal ready I said..... "Climb up to the table and eat Colb"
To which he replied... "Mom I don't need to climb, and you've got to quit treating me like a baby!"
I guess all my boy's are growing up. I think I'm going to go have a good cry!

Love/Hate Relationship...
We have all heard the term Love/Hate relationship? I think I finally understand... What could you want to do, need to do, love to do, but at the same time dread doing, put off doing and hate doing?... Yep EXERCISE!!
Now I'm not talking about going for a walk with your ipod,(or a friend) or a bike ride with your kids. (that's just fun). I mean the kind with weights, and squats, and push ups and sweat running down your... well everything! I know I need to take care of myself, especially if I want to keep eating Cold Stone. (and I do) Soooo I guess I will keep squatting and lifting and sweating. I know if those folks on biggest loser can do it, surely I can to. (at least a few days a week).
So I will get up off my backside now and get moving!!!

Just Be U...
Sometimes out of the blue you realize your baby is growing up. Not because he is 8 inches taller than you or because he out weighs you by 35 lbs. But instead just by something he says.
For instance.....
When Brennnon was 6 just starting kindergarten he informed us pink was his favorite color, and he wanted PINK jelly shoes, with glitter! (you remember those?) Devon took no time at all informing Brennon he must be a girl because only girls like pink and not to tell anyone he was Devons brother because he was a big fat sissy! Luckily Brennon didn't care what Devon thought and got those shoes. (mom designated them "play shoes" that didn't get worn to school).
Fast Forward 7 years........
Colby: Devon is there boy cheerleaders?
Devon: Yea
Colby: Wheww that's good because that's what I'm going to be.
(mom holding her breath waiting for the response)
Devon: Cool, I think you would be really good.
(lets see...very loud likes to jump and flip, I think we found his calling!)

Be carefull how you vote in 2008...
OLD VERSION: The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!
MODERN VERSION: The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving. CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green.' Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, 'We shall overcome.' Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake, .Nancy Pelosi & John Kerry exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share. Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government .Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single-parent welfare recipients. The ant loses the case. The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it. The ant has disappeared in the snow. The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2008.
Have you forgotten?
I will never forget the call from MJ telling me to turn on the TV, laying in bed wondering if what I was seeing was real. I will never forget driving to Salt Lake for my 5th month (pregnant) checkup with Colby, listening to all the reports (was it over?) I will never forget crying, praying my boys in school were safe. I will never forget wondering what kind of a world my new baby was being born into. I don't think anyone will ever forget where they were on September 11th. Let's also try not to foget those who sacrifice so much for our freedom.

Colbys dental whoes..
The Friday before labor day Colby tells me his cheek is hurting, I look in his mouth and decide its just six year old molars coming in and give him some Tylenol. Saturday it continued hurting and started swelling. (so much for mothers intuition) By Monday his face was very swollen! When dad got home from work he told Colb "Alvin, Simon and Theodor called they want their cheeks back.) We got him into the dentist on Tuesday, it turns out a tooth they had capped last year had abscessed. OUCH!! They started him on an antibiotic to get the swelling down so they could pull it. The following Monday we went back in and they gave Colby Demerol to help "mellow him out." This is where is gets funny. I have never heard so much funny stuff out of colby's mouth (and that's saying something) The Dr. even said he was the best ever. Just after he had the tooth pulled he announced "I didn't like that at all, I deserve a party!" We then went to wal-mart to buy his prize R2D2 (star wars) he couldn't stand up and was slurring everything he said like... "mom I want some pu... pu.... mooooom how do you say pudding?" He called his dad and said "dad I had my pooth tolled". Then on the way home while passing the gated community he said "mom why do they have all those fences and wall around those houses?" I said (half listening) "oh I don't know I guess some people like to live in fences", to this Colby said (with much understanding) "Ahhhh like cows!" Boy did I laugh. We love our Colby he is all ways good for a laugh but on Demerol it was even better, we just hope we don't have to do it again too soon.
